Paradigm Shifts – Personal Transformation
by: Ron Sedlak
‘Paradigm Shifts‘ come from ‘aha’ moments and lead to
personal transformations.
These moments come about through self-education.
Money follows knowledge. He or she that knows the
most has the best chance to win. He or she that knows
the rules and has the skill can win most of the
‘games’ played.
You do not have to win every game to win in life. No
one does. You only have to win as much as possible
and for sure you need to win more than you lose.
We are sometimes trapped in ‘games’ for which we do
not know all the rules or even all the players and
how they operate.
The modern worldwide tumultous financial scene is a
prime example. People are losing their retirement
accounts based on destructive actions of people they
do not even know and have never met.
This can give us a disadvantage unless we understand
what is happening and have a way to deal with it. Then
we can still ‘win’ in our lives no matter what anyone
else is doing and even if they are determined to make
us lose.
We need to increase our knowledge and skill.
Business and personal failures can be caused by many
things but foremost among them will always be lack of
knowledge or understanding of how things work, how to
organize and do things and how to deal with the
situations we are faced with.
As a slightly disrelated example, if you do not know
how to treat your spouse, you will likely have trouble
in your marriage.
50 of business is ‘human relations’ – how you respond
to, communicate with and treat another human being. This
is a very important thing to learn more about and to
gradually master, in life and in business.
By survey, college and university graduates make more
income yearly than those not similarly educated and
make more money over their lifetimes by a factor in
the six-figure range.
This makes sense because they have taken the extra time
to learn and have paid the price to gain the knowledge
needed to have a more successful career.
But many six-figure earners and college or university
graduates are still not gaining in their wealth or net
worth (true, income-producing assets) in spite of
their general and specialized education.
So there is still something missing.
What is missing is financial education and education in
personal relations, including relations with ONESELF.
This is the knowledge and skill of dealing with others
on a personal basis (including dealing with oneself and
one’s attitudes, actions and re-actions to things).
And the financial, investment or business knowledge of
how to create increasing lifetime ASSETS that provide
you with passive income so you are not forced to work
every every day of your life just to keep food on the
table.
Money is not everything and cannot buy happiness. But
neither does poverty or uncertainty buy happiness.
Given a choice, it is better to gain the skills needed
to have a higher income and to be able to convert that
income into assets. This makes it easier to live, to
help others if desired and to achieve your goals.
Learning is a continual and transformational PROCESS.
It does not come through reading one book or taking
one course. It is a lifetime dedicated process.
1,000 hours of learning and practice in any subject
gives you a person that knows what they are doing.
5,000 hours makes you a master. This tells you that
cumulative knowledge, practice and application OVER
TIME can make you a master of any subject you desire.
This applies to anything from human relations to
business to martial arts to cooking, to raising
children.
Without a certain degree of PASSION for a subject,
you will not have the persistence to ‘get good at
it’ or master it completely.
Thus it is in your best interests to align as well
as you can:
1. Your life work (activity you have a true passion
for), and
2. Your life income source(s).
If you do what you love and love what you do, and if
what you do is something that can generate lifetime
income for you, then you are set.
You now only have to determine to LEARN everything
there is to know about that subject and become very
SKILLED in it, eventually becoming a master of that
subject.
This normally takes 5 to 10 years. It never happens
overnight. Life change is almost always gradual, one
lesson or ‘aha’ moment building on the last and taking
you to higher and higher levels of certainty and
action.
Action comes from certainty. Certainty comes from
learning and practice.
The process of building your lifetime wealth follows
the same principles. It does not happen overnight.
But with a habit of daily self-education based on
these natural laws it will happen with inevitable
certainty, as sure as the sun rises, as sure as
trees grow and as sure as a girl grows into a
woman. We do not grow up overnight.
The growth process is natural law and the
persistent feeding of the mind (self-education)
causes a growth process as sure as the feeding
of your body causes growth of your body over
time.
