Most psychologists would agree that some stress in your life is good and without any stress you might not be motivated to go beyond the norm or to work to get ahead. If you live in a capitalist society, one that is founded on free market principles, then you know that the more you produce and the better you do, the more you’ll get and the more success you will have.
Still, too much stress could cause you to burn-out, self implode, or have serious health issues. The health issues like hypertension, high blood pressure and heart disease or even heart failure; a heart attack for your midlife crisis, are the most serious. Perhaps, it is for that reason that I’d like to recommend a very good book to you and one that may save your life and reduce the stress.
Before you can live a stress free life, you must understand exactly what stress is and you need to know what stress is not. The stress that can kill you or cause you health problems is the most serious type of stress and since this is a health issue perhaps you should learn from real doctors. So I recommend the following book;
“Stress Free for Good; 10 Scientifically Proven Life Skills for Health and Happiness,” by Dr. Fred G. Luskin, and Dr. Kenneth R. Pelletier; Harper Collins Publishers, Boston, MA; 2005.
This book discusses the real health issues behind stress, distress, and anxiety, as many books in this venue are of the self-help motivational genre and do not specifically touch on what is really going on with your body as you maintain high levels of long-term stress.
If you’ll pick up this book today, you will be well on your way to removing stress and living a happier life. You must understand the science behind stress and the real health issues. You need to know what really causes stress. So please consider this.
