So, you have been told future repeats itself, all be it not always in quite the same way. If you are a trader you will gain most of your information from data of the past, but also know that the markets behave differently today then they did 10 or 30 years ago, even though certain characteristics have remained.
And what about politics, we see the ups and downs of politicians, alas circumstances are different from similar past circumstances when we start examining the details more closely.
It soon becomes clear that part of your past is repeated but not all of it.
And here the misconception begins. It is in our human nature to seek out patterns: patterns are a way for the mind to make sense of this world. But the mind plays many a trick with our conceptions.
Just remember there was a time when it was commonly accepted that the world was flat and thunderstorms were an act of God. Now if we were still building our views of the world around those assumptions the world we live in would be a very different one. It certainly would not have progressed in the way it has. What is more our past view had to change in order for us to embrace a new reality based on the latest empiric and scientific evidence. Clearly the future is very different because of these observations, or should I say our concept of the future?
This is just one example of countless many that clearly shows how our past does not equal our future. In fact I would go as far as to say if it did, evolution simply would be impossible.
The flip side of the coin though clearly proves that there are also many patterns and cycles which clearly are repeating themselves, like spring following winter and day following night? After all these are observable truths, they are patterns and have been the same since time immemorial. So what is going on here?
The mind in its infinitesimal wisdom has many ways of deluding us into making our beliefs appear real. So it is with the seasons and day and night. Yes, whilst at a certain level the existence of these cycles cannot be denied, the opposite is also true and you need to be aware of this if you intend to gain mastery over your thinking. The mind has a habit of going back into the past digging up a situation it recognises which is similar to a circumstance you are experiencing now and gives you an evaluation based on that past finding.
Whilst this mechanism works well for certain instances it can be a serious hindrance in others. For example if you had a bad relationship and your mind fires off old memories the very moment you get into a new one, the odds are hugely stacked against you making any new relationship work. If you trade for a living this habit of the mind can cause you unnecessary losses. Or, if you are a decision maker in your business and base your decisions of any future project on past experience your decisions will lack the necessary creativity true success is made of.
As I have discussed elsewhere we only are aware of a tiny portion of our thinking and acting, about 2 percent for the average person. This is precisely what happens with our assessment of past and future. Yes, on one level it appears that certain things are repeating themselves.
Yes, there are laws by which the world is governed and they do indeed stay the same, at least from our vantage point. The problem arises when we take it for granted that the future equals the past and base our decisions on that assumption. Assuming that this observation holds true gets the mind to make incorrect assessments and associations which make judgements actions defensive rather then progressive. This hinders progress, development and ultimately your success in anything you do.
Expanding your awareness is a natural evolutionary process. We are all doing it at different levels. Bringing this process to your conscious attention is a great way of pushing yourself up the ladder of fulfillment and success.
When you expand your awareness you begin to uncover some of the erroneous associations about past and future which have kept you locked in a vicious circle. As you uncover the new reality these associations and beliefs start falling away because you recognise their irrelevance and harm.
So what techniques can you use to accelerate the awareness process?
Energy Therapy is the perfect tool facilitating increased awareness thus accelerating your personal growth and transformation. You can learn simple techniques which unearth very quickly the wrong associations which have caused you unnecessary grief in your relationships, your finances or your career. In fact if there is an aspect of your life your are dissatisfied about, chances are subconscious incorrect assumptions about the past and future are the culprit. It therefore makes sense that you did a little mental house cleaning if you really want to accelerate your success.
