Spirituality is a big word but an easy practice if you take small steps. Often people are very busy in their day-to-day work that they forget the time to nurture their inner self and be or become more spiritual. Here are 3 ways you can enrich your spiritual self:
1. Do a prayer every day. A prayer can have various forms:
a. When you listen to music on your iPod you can pray
b. When you are in the office, take 5 minutes time off and pray and appreciate your life
c. When you’re in the car driving take 5 minutes to pray
Usually with the word prayer we think about sitting down or sitting still and hold your hands close and pray. But actually a prayer can be done easily together with your activities. For example when you are cooking, keep cooking and say a prayer.
2. Find your life purpose by taking small action steps. Your purpose in life is what you are born to do and your purpose is already within you. It’s in your heart waiting to be discovered and nurtured.
How do you find it?
Take small action by doing the things you love to do and see if you out of your passion can make your profession. It means doing what you love and being able to make a living out of it. If you like flowers, or you like soccer or you like writing go to a flower shop and ask if you can help out in the weekends.
Go to the soccer club and see if you get a part-time job in the weekend. Sign up for Elance and sign up as vendor and offer your writing services and get paid for it. This is an easy step for a more spiritual life in our daily environment.
3. Practice the art of forgiveness. If someone has done something wrong to you, forgive him or her. Write a letter to him or her and tell that you forgive him/her. This will release the burden within you of carrying the emotional baggage and helps you to release negativity. By doing so you will feel more relaxed and your heart can grow.
In order to become more spiritual there are many daily practices you can do. Above I have outlined 3 of them which are relevant to our current society. You can live a happy life and also enjoy a nice career and be spiritual at the same time. Play around with it, see what is working for you and not working. As Buddha used to say ”keep what’s working and leave the rest’.’ I hope this has given you fresh insights in modern spirituality
