Not only is your skin your first impression to the world, but it is also your biggest organ. If something is wrong with it, you will feel it all over, as Stevie Wonder says! Here are five ways to improve your skin immediately, protecting it from the elements, making it look great and giving yourself confidence in your day-to-day interactions with other people.
Drinking Lots of Water
The best thing that you can do for your skin is simple and plain: Drink lots of water. Eight glasses a day is the recommended dosage, although it may be higher if you are in an extremely hot climate or you partake in especially intense exercise routines. Your body will tell you when you are full. If you have to go to the bathroom right after you drink, then you are right where you need to be. Water hydrates the skin better than any external product, and without it, not even the best treatment will be able to maximize its effect on your skin!
Removing Stress from Your Life
Your skin will naturally reflect the stress in your life. If you have less of it, then your skin will look and feel healthier. The body takes resources from the skin first to redirect them to more essential functions if you are emitting stress hormones, meaning that any nutrients that you may be sending to your skin are wasted if you are in a bad state of mind. Relax. Let the process that you are putting yourself through sink into your mental state as well, balancing you so that you can get the most out of the physical steps that you are taking to improve your skin.
Refined Coconut Oil
The oil of the coconut has been used as a skin treatment for many generations. Only now has it been refined, with the best parts of the natural oil being improved through a special process. Unlike synthetic products, refined coconut oil does not signal your body to stop producing its own oil. As a matter of fact, it helps your body create even more moisture for your skin by improving the natural oil production of the body!
If you are not breathing in good air, then your skin has nothing to heal itself with! People who are around smoke will experience the most negative effects of bad air on skin. Just being around smoke can potentially cause your body to come into contact with free radicals. These are the worst thing to happen to skin cells since papercuts. By the same token, make sure that you change the filter in your air conditioner out at least once every three months. If you find the air in your home hard to breathe, change it immediately.
Reducing Indoor Sun Exposure
Although some sun is healthy for its vitamin D, too much can lead to negative effects, especially if you have fair skin. When you are indoors, make sure that you block the sun from hitting you unexpectedly. If it does, then your skin does not have any time to rest and heal from your time outside. You may develop brown spots and age prematurely where the sun is especially harsh on you. You may also increase your risk of skin cancer if you are not careful.
Keep your skin looking as healthy as it can possibly be with the tips above. There are always new sciences popping up about skin therapy, so make sure that you keep up with the newest technological advances! However, inexpensive and thorough solutions like refined coconut oil are a great way to go for a quick and easy start!
