RobertJRGraham.com asks Kevin Hopson, author of Early Release for Bad Behavior
What is ERBB about?
I think the following blurb sums it up best..
Jake wants no part of the outside world. However, when Jake’s name is eventually called, he is left with no choice. What do the perpetrators want with him, and can he escape the fate others have already met?
How did you come up with the idea?
It came to me in a dream. It sounds cliche, but it honestly did. I initially tried to tell the story in a flash fiction piece but, after receiving comments about giving too much away, I decided to re-write the story and expand on it. I took a completely different approach with the story the second time around, slowly building the suspense and giving away little – if anything – until the end. It’s one of the strengths of the book based on what readers have told me.
Why did you become a writer?
I have always possessed a creative mind. I tried my hand at art when I was young and, though I was decent at it, I never truly had the patience for it. Also, I’m not the greatest at public speaking, as I get nervous in front of big groups. As a result, I find that I express myself best through writing. World building and storytelling both allow me to release my creative energy.
How did you get published?
MuseItUp Publishing gave me my first opportunity. I remember submitting my first two manuscripts to dozens of publishers, only to receive one rejection letter after another. However, MuseItUp saw something in my writing, and within a few days of submitting my stories, I received acceptances for both of them. I am forever grateful to MuseItUp. The company literally launched my writing career, and I have signed several contracts with them in the past two years.
