How to Use “The Secret” – Moving Beyond the Law of Attraction
By Robert Britt
Finally the brew-ha-ha has died down a bit regarding the movie “The Secret,” but that doesn’t mean that it is any less valid. The thing that I found was that many people took the message too literally and thought that they would get thing with no effort by just thinking they would happen. The ‘trick’ (not really a trick) to finding success with the Secret is by taking the following three steps.
First, the imagining of what you want has to be a very emotional thing. You can’t just think “oh, I want a huge bank account.” That’s too general and not emotional. Think “I want $10,000 going into my bank account every month” and think about the security that would give you. Think about how that amount of money could impact you, your family, friends, charities, etc. Make it very emotional and specific.
Next, use visual aids to help you take the belief and really cement it into your mind. Perhaps an altered bank statement with a few extra figures thrown in or a spreadsheet with your new balance updated. Print these out and have them by your mirror in the bathroom, or next to your computer or both.
Lastly, take action. This is crucial. Thoughts become things through effort and action. Figure out how you can increase your income perhaps through things you love. Do you like looking through Craigslist? Maybe do that, find things and resell them on eBay. Or do you love making pottery? Do that and use it in place of the gift you might give and bank the money you would have spent, or sell pottery in a local flea market. (Just two ideas)
The Law of Attraction and The Secret are both very powerful things. The real power behind them is the ability to help people to change their minds about who they are and what they want out of life. The quote in the movie is that you can be, do or have anything you want in this life, and I truly believe that is true. All you have to do it visualize it, emotionalize that vision, cement it in your mind and then take action to make it come true. All of these things can come to happen, as long as you believe in yourself and you are willing to make changes in your life to make them happen.
In order to make progress in your life you have to commit to making change. If you don’t make changes tomorrow is going to be very similar to yesterday, with the exception of you being a day older.
