Self-suggestions are powerful tools to harness your mind power. Powerful self-suggestions can change your life completely for the better.
What is a self-suggestion?
A suggestion is an idea or notion that elicits a response in thought or behavior. It can derive from another person, such as a comment or criticism by that person; it can also stem from an object, such as a bill requiring some action. Of course, a suggestion can come from self in the form of self-talk or self-persuasion, such as when you are telling yourself that it is OK to eat junk food occasionally. A self-suggestion is an internal dialogue with your subconscious (or unconscious) mind to create a “reality” for you, thereby instrumental in influencing your conscious mind.
Self-suggestions are a means to communicate with the inner mind. The human mind is made up of both a conscious mind and a subconscious or unconscious mind. In the conscious mind, you act fully aware of your actions and their consequences. In the subconscious mind, however, you are not fully aware of your actions or thoughts: you simply act or react according to directives from your inner mind. The subconscious mind is powerful in that it not only runs the autonomic functions of your body but also controls your immune system. In other words, your subconscious mind can shape who you are and what you will become, because it is in your subconscious mind that you store your emotions and physiological reactions. Your subconscious mind is like your computer hardware that controls what you do, or how you think. Powerful self-suggestions can bring about a positive change in your thoughts and thinking through the production of endorphins (feel-good hormones), thereby making you feel happy; or self-suggestions, by the same token, can induce negativity, and thus adversely changing your general outlook of life and self. Life is full of choices, and self-suggestions can affect your choices, and hence the quality of life.
Self-suggestions are powerful tools in mind power in that they can alter your thoughts positively or negatively. As such, you can use self-suggestions as your internal dialogue to achieve your personal goals in life, to enhance your well-being, and to promote your physical wellness. It is all in your mind — your subconscious mind. You can even use self-suggestions to alter your subconscious mind in order to change the thinking in your conscious mind.
The key to effective self-suggestions is proper communication with the subconscious mind. That is to say, you need to understand how your subconscious mind works. Your subconscious mind responds appropriately to both repeated actions and powerful images.
For self-suggestions to be effective, you need to repeat them over and over again until their intentions are absorbed and registered in your subconscious mind. Consistency, persistence, and relevance hold the key to success in self-suggestions. It is just that simple!
Your subconscious mind also responds positively to powerful images and symbols. Visualization employs specific images to send messages to your inner mind. Visualization is most effective in a relaxed physical condition, such as in a deep meditation. This is the reason why meditation is powerful not only in relaxing the mind but also in enlightenment through clarity of mind.
It must be remembered that you have to be honest with yourself in that you strongly believe that your self-suggestions will work, and that your self-suggestions are not only realistic but also relevant.
In life, adversity and problems are unavoidable, and negativity may also have a powerful impact on the subconscious mind. To fully harness the power of self-suggestions, or to offset the negativity of your subconscious mind, you have to find a way to supply yourself with healthful, uplifting suggestions to counteract your negativity everyday. In life, it is always mind over matter, and self-suggestions do just that!
